Kirk’s love for the restaurant industry began early in life while working in kitchens with his grandmother Margaret (Mimi), who was a true southern belle. Her culinary traditions and spirit of hospitality are the backbone of Kirk’s inspirations. She worked at the Elk’s Lodge to generate spending money for spoiling Kirk and his sister, who would then helped bus tables and wash the dishes. As he was exposed to different cultures, Kirk has enjoyed meshing new flavors and techniques with what he grew up eating, and he also draws inspiration from those working around him.
Kirk loves the opportunities and the support that Old Edwards Hospitality Group provides. In four years, Kirk says he’s gained a decade of experience. The culture of making raving fans, and the tools that are at his disposal to accomplish this, make work fun and exciting. To top it off, being able to live and work away from a metro area in an exclusive location, is a huge blessing to him and his family. Kirk and his wife Julia, who also works at Old Edwards, have two daughters that occupy most of their spare time. They love to get outside and explore the beauty and wonder of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains!
