Billy Kramer

NFA Burger

Billy Kramer worked for 25 years traveling the country for business, from working in the shoe industry to impacting the world of radio, print and digital media, before making the decision to pursue his true passion: burgers. What started as the Instagram account @billysburgers, taking a year off and hosting a series of pop-ups in 2018, has flourished – to say the least – with accolades like being named Food + Wine’s “Best Burger in Georgia” under his belt.

Now spending many of his days inside a Chevron just three miles from his house – where NFA Burger’s 100-square foot joint is located – Kramer was born in Memphis before his family moved to New Jersey. Attending the University of Arizona followed by Rutgers University-Camden, he headed back down South to Birmingham to start his career in the shoe business at the suggestion of his father, who worked in the industry. Soon after, he relocated to Atlanta for a shift and joined the ad sales world, diving in headfirst with the likes of 96 Rock, Ticketmaster, and 680 The Fan, among others. He started a high school sports magazine, Georgia Sports Monthly, and ultimately made his way to the role of VP of sales at a creative SaaS startup. But in 2018, life had other plans and he decided to take time to be with family and work on a few passion projects – at least one of which becoming a smash success.

Before opening NFA’s brick-and-mortar, Kramer popped up at events including the TOUR Championship and venues like Galla’s Pizza, Big Sky and Hampton & Hudson. Now, he has plans to open at least a second NFA Burger location. When “Not Fooling Around,” Billy enjoys spending time with his wife Julie (the talent behind NFA’s popular cinnamon sugar twists, “Schmoops”) and kids.
