Born and raised in Georgia, Bryan Hull has been cooking barbecue since his early teens. In 2019, he started Secret Pint BBQ as an underground pop-up before COVID required him to convert a delivery model in 2020. As dining out returned at the beginning of 2021, Secret Pint began popping up at breweries around metro Atlanta such as Pontoon Brewing in Sandy Springs, Round Trip Beer in Atlanta, & Little Cottage Brewery in Avondale Estates.
Through his cooking, Bryan combines craft-style Texas barbecue techniques with local Georgia wood and barbecue traditions, dedicated to minimizing food waste through house-made sausage and other favorites. His dedication to the process of barbecue earned the interest of Atlantans from across the city – eventually finding Secret Pint on both Eater Atlanta and Thrillist’s lists of the best spots to get barbecue in Atlanta as well as recognition from Star Chefs in their 2022 Atlanta On The Ground series.
In 2023 he expanded the frequencies of Secret Pint pop-ups and started separate residencies at Bowlshi in Alpharetta and Leftie Lee’s. Through a mutual friend, he was put in touch with Robert Owens of GCBBQ and the two met over coffee in August of 2023. They discussed their shared history of dining at old school GA bbq institutions such as Harold’s, Fresh Air, and Sprayberry’s plus their affection for the resurgence of craft bbq, setting up a plan to bring those techniques, traditions, and passion to the metro Atlanta dining scene. Building their menu around the Texas trinity – brisket, ribs and sausage – plus a little Carolina style bbq, Owens & Hull launched in September of 2023, curating the highest quality ingredients (from wood to meat) to smoke and serve Atlanta.
